A Blank Canvas

A canvas, blank, white,
I can clearly see it in front of me,
The fabric stretched tight
Nothing else to see,

Over time, color appears,
Slowly at first,
Like machine warming up it's gears,
Not very prepared for the worst

Blues and yellows are splattered throughout,
Vibrant and dark are combined,
Hearts and knives, the sun and the sky, spread about
The canvas, aligned

Music notes, piano keys,
Symbols for the most important things,
Favorite artists and CD's,
Creating a picture so fascinating,

When you see a blank canvas,
You don't know what to expect,
You can never know its purpose,
How many people it will affect,

You can't judge by its size or shape,
If it will be a masterpiece, you never know,
Be patient, you must wait,
Let it find it's own hero,

When you first look, so white, so clean,
A blank canvas had many possibilities,
Some good, some bad, some in between
Let it grow, let it be free.
